George Square Book of Condolence

Glasgow City Chambers on George Square will be open from 12noon until 5pm from 26 December to 31 January to allow anyone to sign the book of condolence for those affected by the tragedy at George Square.

Glasgow City Council has opened the Lord Provost's Queen Street Fund for people who were affected by the incident. If you would like to make a donation you can find out more on the Glasgow City Council website here.

Opening Hours

Monday to Sunday 10am to 10pm (except Boxing Day 12noon - 10pm)

The first two session each day are Under 8 Skate Sessions only at 10am & 10:30am (12noon & 12.30pm on Boxing Day)

The final session each day is at 9pm

Your skating session lasts for 45 minutes and starts on the hour and the price of your ticket includes the hire of a pair of skates which are available up to adult size 15.

We strongly recommend that you book your session in advance to avoid disappointment. You can book by phoning 0141 353 8000, using the links below or in person at our Box Offices at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall, City Halls or in George Square (from 27 November). A transaction free of £1 for online bookings and £1.50 for phone bookings apply. 

Advanced tickets are only available to buy until 7pm the night before the skate session.
You can purchase tickets on the day from the Glasgow On Ice box office at George Square.

​Refunds and Rescheduling

If you wish to arrange a refund for closed any session that was closed due to the accident at George Square please email our box office at - the team will get back to you with details as soon as possible.

Any session booked using a credit or debit card for 23 & 24 December has been automatically refunded.

While the ice rink will remain open in rainy conditions, should we have to close due to severe weather or any technical issue, we can either offer an alternative skating session or give a refund of the ticket price. We cannot refund tickets unless the ice rink has been closed. 

If you wish to reschedule a booking contact the Box Office up to the day before your booking at the latest and we will reschedule where possible but your preferred session may not be available.

Please note: We cannot reschedule skating sessions on the day of your booking.

Group Bookings

Student Magic Mondays! If you are a student you can skate for half price at any session every Monday - only £4.50!



Accessible Skating Sessions - 2, 3 & 10 December 1pm

We welcome wheelchair users to  George Square ice rink to take to the ice in their own wheelchairs. All wheelchair users must be accompanied by your companion in skates and they must be a capable skater. Please make yourself known upon arrival that you are a wheelchair user and we can put the appropriate measures in place to assist you to the ice rink.

Session availability for wheelchair users 
For your safety and enjoyment we have designated two exclusive wheelchair sessions for you on 3 & 10 December. Tickets cost £6 and includes entry for a companion and we can also accommodate you on quieter sessions during the week.

For health and safety reasons weekend sessions tend to be at capacity and therefore subject to availability.  Please email the team at George Square on so we can advise on session availability and if we can accommodate wheelchair users on the ice rink.

This year we are also pleased to announce two exclusive Accessible Skating Sessions on 3 & 10 December. Tickets cost £6 and includes entry for a guest/PA.
